Day 9: Film with Great Costumes
This should go for every musical and most scifi films really, but I’d
give it to “On the Town” (1949) for the glowing bright Technicolor dresses and
the neat, neat sailor’s uniforms that our lovestruck trios wear! Also, Gene
Kelly’s dream dance sequences are some of my favourite parts of his musicals,
best of all his ’A Day in New York’ with the sublime Vera-Ellen (and with even
more traffic-light/ice-lolly coloured dresses), from the romantic blue-toned
ballet scene here to their joyously swinging date finale, all so lovely :’) Xo
